Privacy and help

Your story, and how Waibook handles it.

Who can see your story

Your draft stays private until you approve it. People join a memory by confirming the invited number and accepting. You choose whether they can hear your original voice too.

People with access can copy or take screenshots. Invite people you trust. Saving an edit to an approved story shares that change with them.

Processing your words

Amazon Transcribe processes your recording to turn speech into text.

Story text is sent to Anthropic to tidy your words, suggest details and bring approved stories together.

Uploaded recordings are stored in our AWS account.

Waibook does not use end-to-end encryption. Service operators and processing providers can access data needed to run the service.

Saving and deleting

While you record, a recovery copy is kept in this browser for your account. It is removed after a confirmed server save or when you discard it. Signing out does not erase a recoverable recording.

Earlier text versions are kept while a story exists. Deleting your story removes its voice and versions from the app, and stored files are cleaned up in the background. Account deletion removes your stories; shared memories with other people’s stories can remain.

Backups and processing providers may retain copies after content is removed from the app. Their retention is separate from the app’s deletion result.

To report a memory someone shared with you, open More, then Report this memory. Your report is stored separately and is not shown to the other people in the memory. Reporting does not grant anyone access to the memory.
